Annual General Meeting report
The AGM was held on Tuesday 27th October and as is traditional, marked the change of Chairman.
Our outgoing Chairman, Jonathan Guy, opened the meeting and invited Secretary, Carol Slater, to reprise the minutes from the previous year’s meeting. These were duly passed as a true record.
This was followed by the officers reports, starting with the Chairman who reflected on a year in which we had once again seen some wild class material from some excellent speakers. Thanks were give to all the members and particularly to Graham and Anne Macpherson who provide the refreshments for each meeting.
The Secretary’s report covered a range of items, not least of which was out upcoming centenary, and the Treasurer, Malcolm Ridsdale, reported that the society was in good health and that membership fees could remain fixed for another year.
We discussed arrangements for the future summer and Christmas events and the moved to plans for the Centenary celebrations. Members were invited to start thinking about what we might do to celebrate 100 years as a society and we agreed to pick this up at future meetings.
This was followed by the election of officers when Malcolm Ridsdale moved from Vice Chairman to Chairman for this year, and Alan Totton was elected as Vice Chairman for the year. All other roles remained as they were.
The meeting ended, after some refreshments, with members looking through some bring and buy items and several bargains went home with new owners.
Below is an example of Northwich Postal history, the sort of thing that could be included in a display for the centenary.
