Members evening brings out the diversity of collecting
As usual, the last meeting of the season was a Members’ night where we get to show off anything that we have just recently acquired or created. This year, once again, there was no shortage of material on display and to cap it off, we held the raffle and the annual competition for the best display, for which there were several worthy entries.
The displays of new material included Australian Cinderellas, a full pane of the G.B. 1937 Coronation stamp which is possibly the only extant pane showing the repaired flaw, Newfoundland stamps from 1928-29, a newly discovered unique printers proof, a first day cover for the India Contingent United Nations Force along with an unusual first day branch opening Hong Kong cover, some local Northwich addressed FDCs, scarce Barbados postal stationary wrappers, and some Concorde memorabilia and covers, all before Alan Totten gave us a display entitled ‘A snapshot of Bergen’ featuring a new arrangement and some new material.
The displays for the completion featured entries of early El Salvador postal history, Nordic Scouting, and Egyptian stamps, and the plate was won by Vincent Green with his El Salvador display. The coveted plate was presented to him by our Secretary, Carol Slater.
As always, photographs are below for members to enjoy and we look forward to the start of the new season with the first display on 8th September 2026.
