Take 2, 3 or 4 delivers some interesting member displays

The concept of take 2, 3 of 4 is around members showing 2, 3 or 4 frames of material on whatever subject they like. And as you might expect from our members, there was a very nice diverse range of stamps and postal history on display.

First up was a display of three frames entirely composed of just one stamp; the Barbados Olive Blossom stamp of 1906. Issued to celebrate the tercentenary of the annexation of the island, it transpired after the stamp was issued that the date was not 1605, as marked on the stamp, but 1625. The display showed postcards and covers bearing this stamp along with a half sheet of the stamp, possibly the largest remaining block.

Next we were shown a wonderful display of the early stamps and postal history of El Salvador, including some pieces which are believed to be unique. In another three frame display we were shown stamps, covers, overprints, handstamps and proofs of material from El Salvador, much of which has not been shown for a great many years.

After the break we had a super display of Norwegian stamps and postal history all themed around Akershus Castle in Oslo. The display traced the history of the castle, its uses over the years and its appearance on stamps, covers and other thematic material. In addition, we also saw a display of Norwegian postcards depicting landscapes which were beautifully illustrated.

The final two displays were of Classic stamps depicting scouting and a final display of early Chinese stamps which were rarely shown.

The society would like to thank all the members who displayed and as always, photographs are shown below.
